A tragic road accident at College More in Sector Five, Salt Lake, claimed the life of an elderly woman who had come searching for her missing son. The victim, Aarti Das, had travelled with her husband to the IT hub after failing to trace their son, who had reportedly not returned home for nearly two months.
According to police and eyewitness accounts, a bus on route 215 was travelling from Howrah to Mahishbathan when it took a left turn near College Mor and hit the woman standing by the roadside. The impact threw her to the ground, causing severe injuries. She was rushed to Bidhannagar Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
Police from the Electronic Complex police station immediately reached the spot and arrested the driver of the bus. Locals expressed shock at the incident, saying the couple had been moving around the area desperately looking for their son before the accident occurred.
The sudden death of Aarti Das has sparked grief and anger in the locality, with residents highlighting the need for stricter monitoring of bus movement in the busy IT corridor.
